This is a series I have just completed, inspired by some vintage stamps from my grandmother's collection. I have drawn a set of lovely sixties style glamorous girls, busy with various tasks: out shopping, walking their pretty pooches or just walking around town.
Some of the series are French girls because the stamps say Republique Francaise, others are American girls because of the American stamps, the others are lovely Aussies because I had some Australian stamps. All are very cool, I hope you'll agree.
I drew them freehand in Sennelier shellac sepia ink on acid-free paper, and used the original old stamps as part of the artwork. I then coloured in sections of the drawing using Tombo pens, which provide a gorgeous watercolour-style wash. The stamps are from the 1950s to the 1980s, not valuable but really attractive I think. All of these original drawings are on paper which is A3 in size (11.6 in x 16 in approx.).
