Originally, Santos or Cage Dolls were created for use as in-home altars or devotionals. My sister told me about them and something about them clicked in my head and took a sharp left turn.
This is #3 of my cage doll series...this one is a steam punk version of the creation of Adam.
True to form, the cage doll has a cage where you can place a picture or scrap of material, something as a remembrance of someone or a meditative aid.
The background is from a vintage 1970's atlas...it is the moon, I shredded it into three parts, cut the hand from a vintage medical reference book and found the flying machine man in a vintage coffee table book about American history.
I put three coats of polycrylic to finish. The legs of the cage are metal legs from marking flags.
Measures 14 x 11 inches and has a picture hanger on the back.
I do have cats, but thankfully none of them smoke and ruin the artwork.
Any questions please ask, or if you would like a custom cage doll collage made, convo me and I can do a reserve listing for you.
