This is a very beautiful RARE vintage early 1900's Czechoslovakian Hubbell Turquoise art glass cabochon ring with an ornate gilded antiqued gold frame setting. The ring is adjustable, in the vintage style, one single band; not a split band. In great shape for it's age, a very collectible work of art.

RARE CZECH GLASS, FROM THE EARLY 1900'S TIME FRAME, AND WERE MADE TO RESEMBLE, THE FINE VARIOUS BLUE TO BLUE GREEN COLORS OF TURQUOISE, WITH VARIOUS BROWNS TO BLACK MATRIX SHADES. THEY ARE NAMED AFTER LORENZO HUBBELL, WHO BROUGHT THEM TO THIS COUNTRY, FROM CZECH., TO TRADE TO THE NATIVE AMERICANS AT HIS HUBBELL TRADING POST IN GANADO, ARIZONA. AS GOOD TURQUOISE WAS GETTING HARD TO FIND AT THAT TIME, NATIVE AMERICANS USED THIS ART GLASS IN JEWELRY, INCLUDING RINGS BRACELETS AND NECK STRANDS, ALSO FOR PAWN. THE BEST REFERENCE FOR THESE BEADS IS THE ARIZONA HIGHWAYS, JULY 1971 ISSUE OF "GLASS INDIAN TRADE BEADS", ALSO IN THE BOOK,"INDIAN SILVER JEWELRY OF THE SOUTHWEST 1868- 1930, BY LARRY FRANK. VERY RARE AND VERY HARD TO FIND TODAY.
