Decision Quest: Desert Island, Printable Team-building Game, Group Decision-Making Icebreaker Activity

Try out this fun group team building activity to get co-workers or friends communicating, making decisions against the clock, and working together to decide what items to bring with them to a desert island! This activity takes roughly 20 minutes. This digital download comes with a story sheet that you'll read aloud to participants. Each round on the story sheet puts participating groups into a situation where they have limited time to decide which items to keep or throw out as they make their way in a raft towards a desert island.

▼HOW TO PLAY▼

-Create groups of 3-5 people.
-Distribute copies of the raft sheet and all three item sheets to each group. Have them cut apart the item squares with scissors (or pre-cut them yourself before starting)
-Start the activity by reading aloud “Round 1” from the story sheet and give the groups 10 minutes to make their decisions. Groups should place the items they want to put in their raft in the empty squares on the raft sheet.
-When time is up move on to reading aloud “Round 2” from the story sheet and give groups 5 minutes to make their decisions. Groups should remove items from the raft sheet in this round.
-When time is up read “Round 3” and give groups 2 minutes to make their decisions. In this round groups will remove more items from the raft.
-Give each group a chance to discuss how their communication and decision making
progressed during the activity, what items they have left to use on the desert island, and why they ultimately narrowed it down to those items.
