this large abstract modern triptych painting titled THE PERFECT STORM is a meditation on the creative process. it is a highly textured mixed media painting in which i have played with assorted bits of vintage lace, wallpaper, coffee, tissue paper and delicate antique book pages.

the inspiration came from a dark and mysterious treasury created by a fellow etsian featuring one of my smaller pieces. the theme of the collection focused on the biblical account of creation which i channeled here with an emphasis on the dichotomies of light and darkness, spirit and matter, heavy and weightless. this piece reflects the joyful discovery of meaning within play that characterizes my own creative process.
