Vintage Pair of Brogniart Children's Busts, the Originals are in The Louvre mixed media resign and plaster. Louise and Alexamdre were the children of Alexandre Theodore Brongniart, the famous
architect of the Bourse in Paris, the Old Stock Exchange.

Louise was found at a flee market, she is a white plaster and is 9" high approximately and, her brother Alexandre is made out of a composite material and has a sepia patina, he is 10" approximately. He was found at an estate sale.

Houdin was the sculptor and he designed the busts to contrast each other. Louise is nude and Alexandre is dressed. Their heads turn in opposite directions, the detail in the eyes, face are again exhibiting a opposite style. There is a small chip on the back of his collar, refer to photo # 4, in no way does this detract from the beauty of this piece. The busts remained in the Brongniart Family until 1900, at which time they were purchased by The Louvre.

Since my decorating style has always been eclectic, I enjoy that this pair are made out of different materials and colors. Who knows that I would reunited a sister and a brother.

They are looking for a Forever Home, have Fun with them.
