The Manticore, "man-eater", was long believed to be a real animal that lurked in India's jungles. Even if an actual Manticore was never found, the idea of a lion-esque beast with a barbed tail is deeply embedded within human lore, and to this day it's fairly commonplace to see manticore depicted in current media.

This Manticore is not quite so fearsome as those that inspired it, as it is made entirely of fleece, craft fur, and safety eyes. There are various depictions of the Manticore, but I settled on one with a more feline-like face (and yet oddly human, as it lacks a feline nose), bat wings, and a scorpion tail. It measures roughly 9" (inches), from toothy grin to pointed tail tip.

I gave the plush a red coat, as the Manticore is said to have the body of a red lion, but I can take color requests.

Note: Since I do use safety eyes for my plush toys, proceed with caution if planning on gifting these to young children.

The item is brilliant. A little smaller than I was expecting but still well worth the money. Had trouble with shipping due to being close to Christmas but Diane was always helpful, making it so I could find out where it was or what was happening even if the tracking didn't fully explain it. Truly a great buy.
