“STOP THE CAR!” Nancy shrieked in panic as she grabbed her husband Vaughn’s right arm with with a grip usually reserved for roller coasters. “TURN IN HERE!”

“What is it...did we forget a kid?” Vaughn questioned as he slammed the brakes on their '64 Ford Fairlane station wagon while wrenching the steering wheel to make a tight turn to the right. The quick maneuver sent the three Griffin children in the backseat to a pile on top of one another, against the left door.

“We forgot to get a gift for Aunt Clara.” Nancy said as she motioned Vaughn to pull into a parking space in the San Diego Seaworld parking lot “She’ll never let us forget if we don’t get her a souvenir from Seaworld.”

Vaughn rolled his eyes and said, “ten minutes, ya got ten minutes...I’m leaving the motor running.”

“Ten minutes,” Nancy yelled back as she was already sprinting toward the park's entrance. She waved her stamped hand as she rushed through the gate and toward the first gift shop she could find.

Nine and a half minutes later Nancy slipped into the front seat of the Fairlane with a small paper bag containing Aunt Clara’s souvenir. The whole family hovered over Nancy’s shoulder as she pulled out the prize--a set of ceramic whale salt and pepper shakers. “It’s a salt and pepper.” She said proudly, "Aren't they cute?.

“That’s what we nearly crashed the car for?” Vaughn said with contempt as he eased the wagon into the line of traffic exiting the Seaworld parking lot.

I don’t think Vaughn fully appreciated how cute the two salt and pepper whales were...with their cute bug eyes. And, I’m sure he never imagined the joy Aunt Clara would have seasoning her soft-boiled egg with the little whales. This fun set is the perfect gift for the salt & pepper collector or whale lover. The ceramic whales are each 4" (12cm) long and about 2" (5cm) wide. Glazed in dark and light brown with red mouth and nostrils plus the have inset moveable eyes. They were made in Japan- we date them back to the 1960's.

This ceramic set in very good vintage condition with nice and shiny glaze. We found no breaks, cracks or chips. Both have their original plugs.
