This is a meat cleaver made by WM Beatty and Sons. The company made quality items that still last today. Dates of existence vary, but it started closing it's doors in the 1920s, but this item likely pre-dates the 1920s. It's held up great, still has the fades marking of WM. Beatty and Sons, Chester, Penna., and the cow is included (please see second picture). The blade shows wear and isn't sharp, but this is over 100 years old and I'm impressed with how well it still looks. I did notice a tiny bit of a wiggle in the blade when pushed, still a solid item, but I don't know if it will stand up for day to day use.
Handle end to tip is 12"-width of blade at the widest point is just under 4."
