ABOUT THE ITEM

This fabulous vintage vase is the perfect example of handcrafting and age being ideal companions. Though vintage, this piece displays as brand new - yet it carries the charm and character of age. This tan colored vase features brown and ivory flower grass, with a sort of southwestern/ western feel. The bottom of the vase is marked "mara."

While trying to find out some history on this vase, we had two leads to track down. One was the "mara" marking on the bottom. The other was the information of the previous owners. The owners thought they had purchased it from Bonnema Potters in Maine. As we researched, we started leaning toward the probability that this is mara pottery. It could be Bonnema pottery, but Bonnema pottery tends to be more red/blue tones and a little more abstract. Mara pottery tends to be a little more crudely designed - with bolder patterns and strong colors. It also tends toward a southwestern theme. BUT, the mara marking on the bottom seems a little different than the typical potters mark. So, we don't really know what it is - but we are leaning toward mara pottery!
