Vintage jackets and coats from the 50s & 60s are among the most chic and classic outerwear designs in fashion history – BUT – they often come with a whole lot of unwanted bulk and weight from heavy wool fabrics. Not so with this lovely little whippet of a jacket in cool cobalt blue and black plaid. The soft wool fabric is light as air but the interior lining provides ample barrier from light Fall winds.

Gorgeous detailing typical of the beloved Mad Men era makes this simple vintage piece something really special: from the wide-cuffed sleeves with their deep wrist pleats, to the shrunken collar with detachable neckerchief, the sophistication pops as loudly as the vibrant blue color.

-no brand label (appears to be a very expertly constructed home-sewn garment)
-no size label
-no content label (wool fabric and most likely acetate, nylon, or rayon lining fabric)
-Cross Shoulder: approximately 15 ½” (raglan seam)
-Sleeve Length: approximately 21” (raglan seam)
-Bust: 40”
-Waist: 41”
-Hips: 40”
-Total Length: 48”
-Condition: Very Good (minimal signs of careful wear, might benefit from a dry-cleaning to freshen up the fabric around the neckline, etc.)

For even more good times…
