Tuareg people, known as 'Blue Men' because the dye they use on their head coverings eventually works its way into their skin, are also know for their skills as jewelry artisans.

This beautiful Carnelian and Sterling Silver Issaran pendant was handmade in Niger. The traditional form and engravings are delicate yet very substantial. The reverse of the pendant reveals the artisan's signature in the pictographic Tifinagh language. The Sterling encases a smooth Carnelian round.

The necklace is a handsome combination of 12-sided carved horn beads from Morocco, a pair of hand-faceted horn beads hand inlaid with brass studs, Sterling melon beads and corrugated spacer beads. The clasp is Sterling Silver as well.

The pendant measures appr. 2 5/8" long including the bail, and the necklace measures about 22" in length.
