Measurements: 7/8"diameter with flexible 1/2" diameter "button" back.

The metals used are a combination of a true 14kt sheet veneer top over a gold plated base metal.

The tops are hand engraved in a leafy floral design consistent with the Victorian interest in Nature.

Photographed in unpolished condition.

Wear to the gold plating at the edges of the back button. No damages to the gold top.

This type of jewelry is referred to as "gold top." It was manufactured during the late 1800's - just as the middle class was emerging. Using the gold top method allowed high end design jewelry to be reproduced less expensively, thus making high end style jewelry affordable for the new middle class consumer.
