This is a mixed media encaustic painting with acrylic paint and collage elements. Encaustic wax has been used for centuries and is very durable. I first blocked in the basic shapes and colors by layering with acrylic paint, while scraping and rubbing to reveal interesting patterns underneath. I then added collage elements such as torn canvas, copper wire, rice paper and pages torn from an old book. The final touch is several layers of clear encaustic wax.

This artwork is on gallery wrapped canvas, wired and ready to hang.
