Maidenhead Bridge,
Berkshire, England

by W. Fairclough

Beautiful, vintage reproduction lithograph of a painting, from a disbound copy of a book published by Oxford University Press in 1946. The set of five volumes was commissioned by the War Office to record various scenes during the Second World War.  Well-known and unknown artists were sent around Britain to preserve the face of Britain for posterity.

The artists in this collection include the following:  Sir William Russell Flint, Clifford Ellis, Vincent Lines, Frances Macdonald, Martin Hardie, Louisa Puller, H. S. Merritt, Phyllis Ginger,  W. P. Robins, Raymond T. Cowern, Ethelbert White, Barbara Jones, Ruskin Spear, S. S. Longley, Gladys Best, Eve Kirk, Thomas Hennell, Bernard Adams and Adrian Hill.

As the picture is taken from a disbound book it has text on the reverse. The paper is cream in colour and is of excellent, heavy quality. Please note, the print is unmounted and the frame in the picture is for illustrative purposes only.

Paper size: 18 x 24 cm approximately.

The print will be packed in a strong board-backed envelope to protect it.

All the prints in this series are in lovely condition, having been in the dark for over 60 years. As with all prints, whether new, vintage or antique, they should be kept out of direct sunlight.
