Brooke Cadwallader was a well-known textile designer in the mid-century He created patterns for fabrics as well as ladies scarves, aprons and various other accessories.
The necktie has a Marshall Field tag on it.
It is stamped with the artist's name as well as the title 'French Fleet'.
The inside wide end shows the number 711.
For more information on the artist, I would refer you to google Life Magazine 9/16/46 where there is a feature article on Cadwallader.
The necktie is a wedgewood blue silk background with French Tall Sailing Ships. The reverse shows roughly drawn black arrows.
The necktie measures 48" long and the wide end is 4" accross and narrow end 3"
Truly the dream tie for the discerning collector.
