I made it to be a paper towel stand, but my wife says it should be used to hang jewelry. It's up to you, but I definitely like looking at the wooden portion of this as much as possible.

It is a spalted wormy white oak piece from a forest free lumber yard here in town. Instead of throwing away this cracked piece, I butterfly keyed it using some walnut and quartersawn white oak I had in the cut off pile. Why do huge slab table tops always get all of the butterfly keys? They don't have to. I think that this oak board deserved some elevation as well.

The base is 7" x 9" x 3/4", and the pipe is 13" tall. If you do end up using it for paper towels, the top twists off for easy roll replacement. The rest of the fittings are epoxied in place.

I didn't use any finish at all on this piece, just sanded it smooth. White oak is naturally water resistant and is typically used to make whiskey barrels, boats, etc etc.

Please note, some of the pipe fittings are stamped "china"
