The pekingese breed originated in China where these lovely Brass Bookends were made, the bottom has a Hong Kong stamp in the brass. This breed, regarded as the legendary Foo Dog was thought to guard against evil spirits. Only Chinese royalty could own pekingese dogs.
Heavy cast brass dogs on a brass plated base mesure 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide.
These are in good condition, there is a small seperation in the seam of the base on one of the book ends. It appears that the welded seam on the corner is seperating slightly from the base.
