Vintage Book Bundle of 3 red Hardcover books. I chose these three books for this bundle mainly because I thought they looked fantastic together as a display. It turns out, they are also some interesting reads!!
The bundle is anchored by Shakespeare's Southhampton, a First Edition published in 1965(see picture 2). Southhampton is about the life of Henry Wriothesley, third Earl of Southhampton, who was also Shakespeare's acknowledged patron. Shakespeare even dedicated a couple of his long poems to this guy! :) He was also an important part of the colonization of America....he "supported voyages of discovery", aided in the "plantation of Virginia" and served as "Treasurer of the Virginia Company" during its last years. Great read for history and literary buffs! This book measures 6 3/8" (16.2cm) x 9.5" (24.1cm). It is in good vintage shape, with just some minor wear to the cover and some small spots on the top of the first few pages.
The book in the middle is Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book published in 1923. This book is chock full of poetry, philosophical quotations, and well, common sense! See pics #3 and #4. It measures 6.5" (16.5cm) X 9 3/8" (23.9cm) and is in good vintage condition. It has wear to its cover and the stamp "Wayland A. Lucas A Master of the Superior Court of New Jersey" is stamped on the book, a book plate with his name is on the front inside cover along with Wayland's signature.
The book on top is The Sheltered Life by Ellen Glasgow, published in 1932. See pic #5. Ms. Glasgow was a Virginia native who wrote about the South. In this book, she explores how old Southern traditions and way of life clash with the sometimes tragic realities of a group of people living in a city in Virginia in the early 1900's. Book measures 5.5" (14cm) X 8" (20.3cm). It is in good vintage condition, with just some wear to the hard cover, a tear at the bottom of the title page and a tiny piece of tape on the inside front cover page(I attempted to remove it...but stopped when it looked like doing so would cause a tear in the page).
This book bundle will ship via USPS Media Mail to all U.S. destinations and via USPS Priority Mail International (due to its weight I could not do First Class International) to all other locations.
