I have made hundreds of butterflies over the years and each one of them is unique. They differ in color, wing pattern, wing angles and antennas. I numbered the wing patterns as I created them. I like some patterns better than others. This is not one of my favorites, but it was my first wing pattern. My later patterns have a little more to them.
I think of this piece more as a moth than a butterfly. The body is shorter and thicker and the antennas are hairier.
The top part of wings is a deeply veined piece of pink, opal glass and the bottom a light pink. The body is iridescent glass which picks up some pink from the wings, the head is a light pink, iridescent jewel and the antennas are fine cooper wire. The butterfly is 5 inches long, 4 inches wide and about 3 inches high.
The butterfly can be hung from a hook on its back and the hook can be moved to adjust its balance and angle of flight. My butterflies do best if hung somewhere there is some air movement, so they can turn in the breeze.
