I bought this lovely black velvet dress with the intention of redesigning it, or up-cycling it. This is made from the beautiful soft rayon velvet that I love so much. I would date the era of this dress to be 50s-60’s close to the Jackie O Era. Although the original price tag is still on this dress, it has some flaws. So who knows what happened? The neckline has a bit of wire where it goes into a V. Maybe to bend or shape the area? The waistline and the area on the neck, has little scuffmarks as if there was something there at some point? The weirdest thing of all is how the armpit is torn and sewn back (terrible sew job). Although the armpits have gussets, they ended up tearing anyway. If you are a handy sewer you could make larger gussets and replace the area where there are tears, or keep the skirt part intact and add a different bodice. This dress has a lot of possibilities.* *selling "as is"
