A fabulous 1840-1860 Victorian Mourning Brooch with hair aperture. Black enamel and heavy rolled gold finish. Engraved in the black enamel that encircles the hair aperture are the worlds, "In Memory Of". Maybe worn as a brooch or as a necklace with an added O ring and chain, not included. Measures 1-7/8" x 1-5/8". In very good condition as seen here. Exquisite scroll work, nice clean glass over the hair aperture; pin stem extends slightly beyond the brooch. Both pin stem and antique C clasp are in good working order. Highly prized by Victorian or mourning jewelry collectors.
