acrylic paint and varnish on salvaged wood

I am the architectural salvage coordinator for Knox Heritage, a non-profit committed to preserving historic homes and buildings and conserving natural spaces in East Tennessee.

The wood was donated to our salvage program instead of being thrown into a landfill.

I paint mason jars on these pieces of wood to raise awareness of East Tennessee's need for historic preservation and natural conservation efforts.

Each piece in the "Preserves" series is hand-painted with acrylic (some of which is metallic) varnished, signed and numbered on the back, and has a hole for easy hanging on a nail. Each is wrapped in mostly recycled materials and ready to give as a gift.

approximately 7" x 5"
