~Antique French Enameled Pitcher ~

~~~~~~~~~~
This is one of those emblematic items that was in homes all across France
for decades early in the last century.
Virtually every ordinary French home had a enamelware pitcher like this somewhere in the house.
These enamelware items were more likely to be found in 'humble' homes rather than in 'grand' ones....but now we all love them!
Many of these old bits of French 'nostalgie' have simply rusted away so that
they are now quite difficult to find in this condition.
But this one has survived beautifully and even though it does have some small areas of rust,
we now find that adds to the charm of these old enamelware pieces. Certainly nowhere is this fine example of the type rusted through.
All in all, it is in truly excellent antique condition.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Often these old pieces were decorated with bouquets of flowers, geometric designs, or simply in a plain colour...this one is in a beautiful aqua blue-grey and white spatter pattern...with a band of cobalt blue around the lip.

I think it is perfect for holding a big bouquet of summer flowers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The measurements are a very tall 16 1/2 inches with a base diameter of 8 /2 inches.
This is an exceptionally large example of the type.
~~~~~~~~~~~

As happens, after the 2nd world war, this sort of thing was considered 'quaint and old-fashioned'....

just what we value and admire today!

In the 1950s homemakers preferred a more 'modern' look so thousands of these items

and many other wonderful old things were just 'thrown out'.

Now they are rare and hard to find

and a piece like this will turn up only Very Occasionally.

~~~~~~~~
A truly charming and authentic antique French accent for your home.
