This large and colorful hand-painted silk fan was made in Japan, probably in the 1950's. It measures 25" wide when opened. The sticks are thin wood, probably sandlewood, painted black. The guards are black lacquer. The scene, hand-painted on black silk, is of Mt. Fuji with pagodas and flowering trees, very vividly colored. It's in good+ condition, with a 1-3/8" scrape on one of the guards, and a 5/8" split in the silk next to one of the guards. It's in its original box and has its original tassel.
