An unusual example of vintage Tonala Mexico Art Pottery Frog Figurine
For years I thought this was Artist signed under glaze "NIL-XII ♥"Arts and Crafts period ca. 1920
Thanks to a fellow Epsteam member I came to learn that it actually reads "Mexico" and with a bit of research was able to find quite a few examples of frog figurines attributed as Tonala..

Color: deep forest green with black and gray details and many layers of glaze
(note that the close-up photo showing under-glaze signature is not the actual color- the camera is picking up all the layers of translucent glaze which show the base color- white)

This would have required multiple firings as it is apparent that there is a very glossy over-glaze finish resulting in a glistening wet look of a real frog

On the bottom is the original $60 price sticker from when I purchased it at an appraiser run Estate Sale years ago at fair market price. Figurine is in same condition as when I originally purchased it.

Measurements: 2 1/2" H X 2" L X 2 1/2" W

Condition: Excellent with no chips, cracks, scratches to finish or repairs. There are a couple factory glaze mis- fires/ bubbles as noted in pics
