A lovely vintage 1960s breakfast plate, showing people in the Dutch folkloristic costumes that they wore back then in certain communities. Nowadays these plates are popular collector's items in the Netherlands. I added some colorful screenprinted accents that make these plates look fun, modern and happy.

The original set consisted of six different plates, each with the name of the community where the specific folkloristic costume was worn (this one was worn in 'Spakenburg'). I currently have a few different plates from the series available that are ready to be shipped, and can make other ones as a custom order. I can also make breakfast sets with a matching cup & saucer as a custom order, and if you really like them you can also order a complete set of four or six plates! You can see my custom order section for more information:

This plate is a second because it has some small printing/firing flaws. As you can see on the second (detail) picture, there's a little brown/golden line on the little girl's arm. Also the glazing has become a bit 'rough'. In fact these flaws are only noticable when you watch from very close, so this one would still be great as wall art. Because of this imperfection the price of this plate is reduced from $44 (€32) to $22 (€16).

This plate is fired on a high temperature and therefore the print is permanent. However, it's really old and best treated gently! I don't recommend putting it in the dishwasher (though it shouldn't be a problem if it happens once ;)): it should be dishwasher-safe, but I can't guarantee the colors remain as vivid as they are now in the long run. So just a bit of hot water and soap will keep this guy in good shape!

PLEASE NOTE: this item is a second, so it's not in an absolutely flawless condition, which is reflected in it's much reduced price!
