This is an attachment for old style Berninas that allows you to use your sewing machine like a serger. I've tested this and it works, but I've since acquired a separate serger.

The cardboard box is worn, but inside there is styrofoam to protect the plastic box that holds the components (as pictured) so the important pieces are in good condition. Complete with the manual.

The foot has the number "578" on the front.

I've attached a photo of the stitch I made using zigzag and overlock in two stitch lengths (closer together and wider apart). Basically it is just a zigzag or overlock stitch with the edge trimmed off. I also found it helpful for French seams where you like to have the seam trimmed neatly close to the line of stitching. It certainly wouldn't replace an actual serger, more of a helpful tool for occasional use and if you don't have the space for a serger. The booklet illustrates its use and some additional techniques I haven't tried.

Here's a video that explains how this works:

I will package carefully, shipping is difficult to estimate so I will refund excess charges over $2.
