I was excited to obtain a blue vintage dead stock fabric mask to decorate because of all of the interesting properties of the color. Many people think blue is the new black and blue certainly is interesting because of its depth of shade. I wanted to exploit and enhance this property by using a variety of blue vintage materials and created a glistening bead covered lace surface with asymmetrical placement of the elements to keep light and the eye moving. All masks ship FREE to US destinations and international rates are reduced proportionately!

I covered the mask with a scrap of vintage lace and outlined the edges of the mask with fine blue glitter I rescued from the trash of a painter who had a "sparkle phase" in the mid 80s. I dotted the surface with vintage 1980s faux blue rhinestones and vintage irridescent beads. With the eception of the faux rhinestones, all of the beads were sewn by hand. I used blue seed beads salvaged from alteration scraps to attach vintage cupped light blue and flat iridescent sequins. The iridescent sequins and iridescent bugle beads were ripped from scraps of a beaded dress I restyled. I also wanted to play with "blue" meaning sad in this item and stitched four iridescent tear shaped beads dripping from one of the eyes. I crocheted silver elastic thread to make a stretchy cord to secure the mask for wearing.

This is a one - of - a - kind item. The mask is 6 3/4" (17.3 cm) wide. The eye separation is 1 1/4" (3.2 cm) at the inside corners of the eye openings and 4" (10.2 cm) at the outside corners. The mask is not washable. I suggest cleaning it by carefully brushing with a small, soft brush.
