This clever "unknown" figural pocket lighter is designed to look like a French 5 Fanc coin. It carries no manufacturer marks or definitive means of dating it; the outside edge of the "coin" is simply stamped "Japan". The copper face of the coin features a laureate bust of Emperor Napoleon III with the original engraver's name (Barre) below the base of the bust. The reverse has the value 5 FR which appears at the sides of the crowned Imperial arms. The date appears below, replete with original coin's mintmark to the left and the anchor privy mark to the right.

This novelty lighter is unused, new-old-stock (NOS): no soot in side the wind guard, the spark wheel is clean, and the original wick is still white. It sparks strongly and was unused prior to my test firing. It will be shipped with a flint and without fluid. (Please do not store this lighter with the flint though, as it will deteriorate and become impacted over time.) I've provided high quality photos to offer the best preview of this lighter's condition. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions.

FREE SHIPPING if you order more than one item (U.S. customers only) and free local pick-up from my shop on Antique Row in Baltimore. Non-US customers, please contact me for shipping options/costs. Thanks for looking and please check out other items in my shop.
