Description

Skill level easy/beginner.

********** This listing is for a tutorial in PDF format. The tutorial gives instructions for making plantable paper Seed Bombs, like the ones I have made in the photos. This is not a listing for finished items. No raw materials are included. **********

Plantable papers are a new exciting, eco-friendly addition to your wedding. Make them, put into an organza bag and use as a favor or place card at your eco-friendly or garden-themed wedding. They make great conversation starters at baby showers, birthday parties, bridal showers and other special events. Add Forget-Me-Not flower seeds to your seed bombs and plant them in remembrance of a loved one. Plantable paper makes a great teacher gift, especially for a science teacher who can then sprout the paper as part of a botany lesson.

Making your own plantable handmade paper Seed Bombs is a simple project, great to do with kids, and requiring simple household items. Great for crafters looking to recycle junk mail and all the various papers that come into your life. A wonderful project for an engaged couple looking to save money for their wedding. Even a terrific project for a family of home-schoolers who want to recycle while learning. To make your own seed bombs, you will need a blender, a sieve, scrap paper such as junk mail and flower seeds. Anything else you need are common household items.

This tutorial comes with detailed instructions — 9 pages including detailed, high-resolution photos! — explaining how to make these playful paper balls like the ones pictured, a list of everything you need to make them as well as tidbits of knowledge that I have learned over the years in working with wildflower seeds and handmade paper. I have been making paper by hand since 1992!

Some recent feedback about my seed bomb tutorial:

"Just what the doctor ordered! Super easy-to-follow directions; clear, high resolution photos. The seller was also super helpful after my purchase when I emailed her a troubleshooting question. (It was my own user error, which I already knew: I made some of my seed bombs too big, causing them to take longer to dry, which caused some of the seeds to sprout.) Within one hour (59 minutes to be exact!), she shot me back a reply which answered all my questions and put my fears to rest."

I thought this would be much more detailed about what medium was used, but it is very basic. I wouldn't recommend unless you cant guess that you can use elmers glue, spray adhesive or modge podge.

Martha responded

I reached out to Carrie twice about her issues with the tutorial. I was confused by the review (there isn't a lot to say about adhesive beyond explaining what I use, how I use it and suggesting other recommendations used by other artists) and invited her to ask any questions she had to clarify my information and to make my tutorial better if it was unclear. She never responded so I am not sure how to correct her problem. If any customers buy one of my tutorials and have questions, I am happy to clarify or provide support.

FAQs

I ship every day, Monday through Friday, via USPS First Class mail. I wait until the afternoon to take orders to the post office to capture as many orders as I can. (But I will go early in the day if my customer has a time issue like an Express Mail drop-off.) So it may take as long as 24 hours for your package to be shipped but it is often much less. And if you want to know a little secret, I live within walking distance from a post office so sometimes, and especially on nice days or if I have an errand to run, I will make a second trip to mail something if I get a sale late in the day. I often ship on Saturdays, especially if it's a beautiful day to get outside!
I do not wholesale my plantable products but I do wholesale my Petal People pressed flower art cards. Please inquire for more information.
Because of customs regulations for shipping live seeds to other countries, I do not offer international shipping on my plantable products but do ship my Petal People cards internationally.
Because I get so many donation requests, I have had to limit those charities to whom I donate. I now only donate locally, and to companies and charities with whom my family is directly involved.
Yes! However, I am very selective who I give my products to, and I don't give them very often. I will need proof of a certain amount of consistent readership, as well as evidence of cross-promotion on social media, and a well-established presence in either the crafting world, wedding market or another audience that hits my target customer base.
When I package up an order, I print a shipping label in my studio. Once the label is printed, an email is automatically sent with tracking info, but your package has not been shipped yet. When I drop off the package at the post office, it is scanned with the postal gun. The postal folks don't transfer that information from the gun to their computer system until after 5 pm when they upload the scans into their computer. It can still take a few more hours for tracking info to appear on the website. If you have been sent an email with tracking but it isn't showing up, just check back a few hours later or the next day.
