This Alice In wonderland inspired denim costume was part of my collection that I presented at Boston Fashion Week 2012. I was one of 3 headlining designers at that years event. I decided I would close the show with a brief visit to the rabbit hole..

This dress was actually my graduating project from LaSalle College. I had finished my costume design program with this court jester interpretation costume. I decided to up-cycled my final project and transform it into a runway savvy finale. I hand made all the roses on the sleeves with neon pink organza. I spray painted them to literalise "Painting the Roses Red". I also spray painted the dress itself with an acid wash look. Adding a Patina effect was part of our final project requirements.

I created the denim pleated skirt by taking about 15 pairs of cut off shorts and sewing them all together into one large circle skirt . I washed the finished circle skirt a few times to have it frey on the edges. I used a wire brush to help some stubborn un-freying spots along. Then I had to pleat the waistband of the shorts. They had no waistbands because I had removed them all and used them for a collection of skirts that are available for sale in my shop. Not having the waistbands made it a lot easier to pleat the denim. Otherwise it would have been way too thick and impossible to sew...not to mention uncomfortable to wear. Once the right hip circumference was reached, I had to sew the entire waistband of the circle skirt to the bottom of the dress using upholstery thread.

I then made a tutu bustle petty skirt. I did some patina by spray painting a pink acid wash mural onto each layer of the tulle. The tulle bustle was made with many layers of different shades of pink tulle. I made a ton of little rosettes, also made from tulle. I had to sew these on by hand to add extra volume to each layer. It gives each layer a rosy, polka dot, poofy effect.

I had a mini, pure silver tea pot in my kitchen. i super glued it to a metal headband covered in diamond rhinestones. It was the perfect match for my opening Dinosaur tea cup head band. The model wore a ton of bobby pins to keep this head piece in place for her entire walk down the runway.

I offer the highest quality of Eco Fashion. I use 100% up-cycled materials in every design. I pre-wash all fabrics prior to using. Please feel free to ask any questions before purchasing. I will gladly answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding the size and fit of any item. Also, please also feel free to ask for close up shots or fabric content.
