This is is the nicest set of this series I've found to date. The condition of this 80-year-old map is exceptional. The paper is heavy, the teal color remains vivid and the sketches are sharp. This series is becoming extremely difficult to find and costly. I never know when I begin to list a new set if I will be able to find more. At this time, I have one original map of each state.
Doesn't this simply make you smile? I just love this little gem. It's an ORIGINAL vintage map from a 1931 text book. It's unusual because it depicts the topography of the state, a bit of its history, major cities, agricultural and industrial pursuits with sketches in lieu of printed words. The map is in shades of teal, black and cream and would make a nice graphic statement if matted and framed. It would also be useful for altered art projects. I think it would be fun to frame several of these maps and display them in a group. For instance, a group might include your home state, states you've resided in, visited on vacation or a honeymoon, etc. If you don't see the states you are interested in convo me.
There is light tanning of the paper that is a bit darker on the edges of the paper. This is normal as the edges saw more light over the years. If you are going to frame the map the margin will be covered with a mat. The teal green and black have also aged to nice mellow shades. Considering the maps came out of a text book and were obviously handled by kids, their condition is pretty amazing. The entire page measures about 7.5 x 10 inches. The image itself measures 6 1/8 x 7 3/4 inches. There is a raw edge on each map where it was attached to the book. This could be trimmed by the new owner or coverd by a mat.
