Rich Green Jadeite Depression Glass Plate

This is a very unusual and pretty glass plate. Maker is unknown as it is not marked.

This plate is a rich dark green, darker than normal jadeite glass in tone and it measures 8 1/8th inches in diameter, rim to rim, and 7/8ths of an inch deep. It is simply lovely to look at and would be a very attractive cookie or candy presentation plate.

It is vintage, although we cannot pin the time frame, and displays some cutlery marks in the bowl of the plate. It has no chips or cracks.

Interesting thing about this pretty plate is that it looks very fine on the top, except that some black glass got caught up in the melting process and left a black spot on the face of the plate. But the other interesting thing is that the rear of the plate is somewhat crude in that the back side has polishing marks in it where the plate was finished to remove some residual air bubbles, and the color in the glass, if you look real carefully, is mottled.

It does not fluoresce and is translucent to light. If you collect green glassware, this would be a very nice addition to the collection.
