"I have sat at the sumptuous tables of power, but I have not run away with the silverware." - Diosdado Macapagal

This intricately designed set of silverware likely dates to the early 1900s. We are unsure of the metal used, but it seems to be brass (though the previous owners were under the impression that it was a type of silver a little lower in grade than sterling). From the ornate cathedral to the fearsome animals, the top of each piece depicts a topic important in the history of Florence, Italy. The give-away regarding origin is located in a tiny plaque on one of the forks that reads "Firenze" (see picture). which is the Italian name for the city of Florence. There are no maker's marks visible anywhere on this set, but the craftsmanship is exceptional and intricate. The spoons and forks measure approximately 5 1/4" long while the knives measure 5 1/2". The condition is good - most of the carving is still highly detailed. However, the spoons show a good deal of discoloration in the ladel, and the backs of most of the pieces are mildly worn.

Whether you collect vintage souvenirs or have an appreciation for antique craftsmanship, this silverware set is for you!
