"Two Hundred Years of Charleston Cooking," by Rhett, Gay, Woodward, and Hamilton.

Here is low country cooking at its best. You'll find lots of comfort foods for the cooler weather.

University of South Carolina Press, Columbia, South Carolina, 1976. This is a paperback with edge wear, corner bumping (especially on the front lower right cover), and some age tanning, but the recipes are in great readable shape and oh-so-delicious.

Get ready for gumbo, shrimp pie, buttermilk custard pie, green corn and shrimp pudding, apple Charlotte, hoe cake, spoon bread, corn bread, popovers, griddle cakes, sugar biscuits, wedding cake, butterscotch candy, fried chicken, chowder, crab soup, snow cream, preserved cranberries, hopping John, okra, oyster stew, and so much more.

You'll find all kinds of soups, appetizers/canapes, shellfish, egg dishes, poultry and meats, sweet potatoes and other vegetable dishes, salads, relishes, breads, cakes, cookies, desserts, even beverages.

Down-home cooking. YUM!
