This wonderful condition Union Case measures 3 3/4" x 3 3/8" and is just shy of 7/8" deep. Floral motif, scalloped edging surrounds a depressed cameo shape in the center.

Case is in wonderful condition. Minimal wear. The top right corners on front / back case have tiny nicks roughly 1/2" in from the corner. Otherwise no damage to note. Brass hinges are intact and very clean. Case closes but does not latch. Both parts of latch are present and intact.

I estimate the case was made between 1860 - 1880. The tintype is likely 1880 era.

Inside has red and blue velvet protectors. The red velvet protector around the tintype frame is separated at the corner, and has a few spots of wear. Blue is intact and nice.

Inside right of case reads

Littlefield, Parsons & Co.,
Manufacturers of
Daguerreotype Cases
L, P. & Co., are the sole
Proprietors and only legal Manu-
facturers of UNION CASES, with the
Embracing Riveted Hinge.
Patented October 14, 1856,
and April 21, 1857.

In pencil over the information, there is an old $4.00 price. It can be removed, but I've left it as is.

Tintype is of a young girl holding a hat. There is another hat on the table behind her. Image is very clear and in nice shape. Has the soft gold tone outer border and the inside oval frame. Both are in very nice, clean.

This is one of the nicest Union Cases I've seen in a long time. It would be a very nice addition to your collection, and more than suitable for use in housing any of your antique Daguerrotypes.
