Orsted Station Print - To Sleep in a Sea of Stars
Materials: archival paper, archival ink
Width: 9 inches
Height: 13 inches
Some of the images that most inspire me were taken during NASA’s Cassini mission—stark vistas featuring the inky vastness of space and planetary hemispheres suspended in frame, as if by magic.
That’s what I wanted to capture in my drawing of Orsted Station, a military base in orbit around Ganymede, one of Jupiter’s many moons. I drew the original in black and white. Later when Tor Books produced an art print of the piece as part of the pre-order campaign for To Sleep in a Sea of Stars, my assistant, Immanuela Meijer, colorized the image, and the art department also dropped in a nebula drawn by artist Vadim Sadovski. As a final touch, the official logo of the UMC, created by Caru, graces the lower corner of the piece.
Some relevant stats about the giclées:
Paper: Baryta, semi-glossy, archival
Size: 13” x 9” (including white border)
Signed: yes, I've signed each print individually using a silver pen
This fine-art reproduction is produced using Baryta semi-glossy archival paper and archival inks by the folks at Reed Art & Imaging. I hope you enjoy this beautiful print, one of many pieces set in the Fractalverse universe.
