Early 1800s ninth-plate daguerreotype of a wealthy and beautiful lady in mourning. Her long dark brown hair is parted in the middle and tied in a low bun. She is wearing long dangling earrings, a black satin pleated dress with a white lace collar, and black lace gloves.

Her eyes are sad and her mouth seems to quiver as if she is on the verge of tears. An amazing photograph that shows not only emotion but also gives a peek into the stunning fashion of day.

Photograph is in excellent condition. Brass mat and glass are nearly perfect. The copper foil, red velvet, black embossed paper covering the wood case and the hinge need repair.

Case measures 2-1/4" x 2-3/4.
