This Buddha Eyes 30mm drilled cabochon is made from carved bone and comes with 1mm holes in the top left and right corners for the beadworkers who should find it ideal for stringing.

It's the smallest of two different sizes in this design that I've had drilled this way. The other is about 40mm. There is also a 40mm cab with holes in each of the four corners.

Please note that the hole size in this latest batch is 1mm so it's smaller than is show in the stock photos.

This piece with its serene face was crafted for Indounik in Bali where Buddhism and other religions have had a big influence in shaping the type of Hinduism practised by most of the island's 4.2 million inhabitants.

Bali is the biggest Hindu outpost outside of India but it's a hybrid form of the religion that incorporates elements of Buddhism, animism, and even Chinese Confucianism.

This religion is practised by more than 90 percent of Balinese as well as some residents of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Lombok, the little island to Bali's east. Together they represent only about 3% of the population of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation state.

What might not be so widely known is that in Java, once predominantly Hindu, a substantial number of Muslims follow a non-orthodox, Hindu-influenced form of Islam known as Agama Jawa.

Crafting beautiful ornaments and jewelry pieces from animal bone is a time-honoured tradition among many of the world's cultures, including several of the diverse ethnic groups scattered through the Indonesian archipelago.

Delicately hand-carved pieces come alive in the hands of talented artisans such as those found on the island of Bali. Bone is a sturdy and versatile material that is durable enough to craft a treasured heirloom.

The bone used in Indounik cabochons is from cattle and is sourced from neighbouring Java. It is carved in the village of Tampaksiring, home of the island's best carvers of bone, horn and shell.
