Description

Plump, pink piggies are the citizens of the farmyard, fairy tales and nursery rhymes. We name our babies precious digits after them as we play counting games and kiss each sweet toe. In a fairy tale life, a pair of brave but friendly pink piglets could guard a special child's favorite books and watch out for book worms (or dust bunnies).

Although not carved in a traditional way, each of the two little pigs are made life like with my signature technique of gluing 3 layers of dimensional lumber shapes together with food safe glue. The shapes are then further refined and shaped with serious sanding. They are then coated with a non toxic sealer, sanded again for smoothness and then painted with certified non toxic water based artist paints that bring the pigs to life. Finally, they are coated with at least three coats of certified non toxic water based sealer so they feel smooth and their paint will be protected.

These sweet piggies resemble real barnyard baby pigs. Each pig is nearly 5 1/2 inches tall to the tip of their ear. They are 6 3/4 inches tail to snout and 2 1/2 inches wide. They are made by me in my studio and are ready to ship.

FAQ: I'm frequently asked if my bookends will really hold up books or are they just decorative. Truthfully, they on the small side. They work very well with shorter, hardbound or board books. I picture them with "Little Golden Books" and books that are around 9" - 10" tall and they hold them up just fine. If you have a huge batch of books trying to fall over, these will most likely fall, also. Because they are made of lighter wood, at least they won't do too much damage when they fall. Feel free to covo me with any questions.
