Here, you can buy individual 250g balls of woollen blanket strips rescued from the British mills. These top quality, 100% wool selvedge strips are £10 / ball (which is amazing value for pure wool) and perfect for rug hooking, rag rug making, proggy mats, weaving, twining, locker hooking, extreme knitting, chunky crochet, braided rugs, mixed media crafts, appliqué and much more...

This listing is where you can buy our green yarns and the photos show examples of the shades of green we stock at Ragged Life. To buy a yarn, select the shade you would like to purchase (for example, Forest, Citrus, Olive or Jade) and we will choose a ball in that colour way to send out. As we are working with a recycled product, the exact colour of the ball you receive may vary from the green colourway examples in our photos, but we will try to take into account your preferences if you leave a note in the "special instructions to seller box" when you check out.

Please note, for £10, you will receive one 250g ball of blanket yarn, in one shade (not multiple smaller balls). If you purchase multiple 250g balls, we will send out multiple different greens. However, if you would like multiple balls of the same green, you can specify that at check out.

What Makes our Woollen Blanket Yarn so Great?

1) It's 100% wool, so is not only super soft, but also excellent quality. It's an absolute pleasure to work with, and any rug, cushion or craft project made in blanket yarn will last for generations.

2) Fabric yarn comes pre-cut into strips, which saves on cutting time. We recommend cutting the strips in half for ease of use and to make them go further, but that takes considerably less time than breaking down any item of clothing into strips. Our strips vary in width between 2 and 4cm, depending on which mill they have been sourced from.

3) It looks gorgeous. The texture and depth of colour is just lovely. Wool is a natural fibre which imbues any project with cosiness and warmth.

4) It's sustainable. Our blanket yarn is made from offcuts from blanket production in Yorkshire, so you can rest assured that every ball you use is less wastage going to landfill.

5) It goes far. Blanket yarn is thick, which means that it covers the hessian much quicker than most fabrics. This means that you can rag rug further apart and your rag rug creation will be done in no time. One 250g ball covers a 40 x 40cm cushion front when rug hooked. It takes two 250g balls to cover the same 40 x 40cm area in the shaggy, proggy style of rag rug making.

NB: Generally, we divide our greens up into Forrest Greens (think leaves and woodland), Olive greens (think olive & pistachio), Jade (bluer style greens) and citrus greens (lime & spring greens).
