A huge couture kanzashi fascinator made of oyster grey, forest green, white and palest blue habotai silk. This is an statement piece and is absolutely one of a kind (OOAK).

The piece comprises 177 individually handfolded petals (all handfolded by me!). The main flower measures 5 inches across in diameter. The piece is 10 inches from top to bottom, including falls and measures 8 inches across at its widest point.

This piece was made to brief for The Guerrilla Fashion Show, held in my hometown of Brighton. The brief was Brighton and its diversity. This piece was inspired by the traditional side of Brighton, in particular the architecture of the Victorian Bandstand, which hold a special place in my heart as it is where I had my wedding photos taken! Here is a photo of the bandstand: http://www.flickr.com/photos/khedara/4975106636/

There are pale grey stamens and single pearl coloured beads in the centre of each flower and each flower is backed with pale aqua felt. The main flower has 2 large alligator clips attached to it to hold the fascinator securely to your hair.

Please bear in mind that the colours you see on your screen may not exactly match the appearance of the kanzashi 'in the flesh', though I have tried to show them as accurately as possible!

Kanzashi are Japanese hair ornaments. Hana kanzashi means ‘flower kanzashi’ and simply refers to the flower shape of the hair accessories. Tsumami kanzashi means kanzashi that are made by pinching silk to form petals and is the Japanese traditional craft which inspires my own kanzashi.

If you would like a custom kanzashi made in a flower or cluster shape, according to an existing design of mine, in the colours of your choosing, please get in touch with me via Etsy conversations. I am also happy to undertake more complex bespoke orders, such as bridal fascinators, boutonnières, corsages and bouquets. Just get in touch to discuss what you are interested in!
