These beautiful crocheted snowflakes are elegant and lacy and have all the boho vibes! They can be made for ornaments for your tree, added flair to your Christmas wrapping, an added embellishment to your winter wardrobe, or just to hang around your house to brighten up your space. Leave off the tassel and the hanging loop, and you have a beautiful winter coaster, kitchen trivet, or table setting/placemat! Made in 100% cotton, you could also realistically dye them ombre or add bright colored beads. The options are endless! The pattern includes instructions for both the 7-point and the 8-point snowflakes.
Supplies Needed:
-1.25” (30 mm) wooden ring. (Optional, but it does look better with it in my personal opinion)
-7 (8) 8mm wooden beads (Optional, but it does look better with them in my personal opinion)
-approximately 50-75 yards 100% cotton cording/yarn. I purchased mine from the Dollar Store for very little. It is called “Poly-Cotton All Purpose Twine”. I do not recommend using anything other than 100% cotton or the piece is not likely to hold its shape and the fringe will not look as good. Another comparable yarn is #8 Artiste Crochet Thread. NOTE: You could also use a thinner crochet thread and smaller hook if you wanted smaller snowflakes.
-Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
-size F 3.75 mm hook for ornaments and coasters, size N 9.0 mm hook for trivet, and size P 15.0 mm hook for placemats.
-small tooth comb or wire dog brush
-Aileen’s Stiffen Quick fabric stiffener and a piece of cardboard 4” (5 cm) wide
