Daisy is named after the cow who was part of a reporter's fabricated story on the cause of the great Chicago's fire started in 1871. Norman Rockwell named the cow Daisy, as did many others, in his painting, Mrs. Catherine O'Leary Milking Daisy.

Even if Daisy was to blame for this horrific event, the rebuilding that began almost immediately spurred Chicago's development into one of the most populous and economically important American cities and not to mention architecturally beautiful and renowned.
