Drop Spindle Kit, Learn to Spin Spinning Kit, Wooden Drop Spindle, Alpaca Roving, bottom whorl spindle or top whorl spindle, complete instructions for spinning your own unique yarn.

Learn to spin your own One-of-a-Kind unique yarn with our handmade wooden drop spindle and easy to spin roving. This is a great spindle for beginners.

Great gift to yourself or for a fiber enthusiast friend!

Kit comes with:

1. Bottom Whorl or Top Whorl Drop Spindle - hand made, sanded, finished with wood wax polish in a natural light oak color. Shaft measures approximately 12" long and whorl is approximately 3" in diameter giving enough weight to the drop spindle for easy spinning. Includes yarn leader made of alpaca yarn and a brass hook.
2. Complete Instructions including Terms to Know
3. 1 oz. Hand Dyed Merino and Silk Roving in Variegated Shades of Russet
4. 1 oz. Alpaca Roving from our own Yuki in Natural White

Bottom Whorl—The weighted whorl is at the bottom of the shaft and spins slower which is good for heavier yarns that need less twist in them. This spindle is best for medium to long fibers. It can also be used for short fibers. This spindle is well suited for beginners.

Top Whorl— The weighted whorl is located at the top of the shaft and spins faster which is good for thinner yarns and fine fibers such as angora, alpaca, etc. This spindle is good for more advanced spinners, however, sometimes new spinners like the faster top whorl because it spins longer and gives more time to pull the fibers into the twist. I personally use a bottom whorl more often because it doesn't seem to wobble as much since the weight is on the bottom. Basically they both pretty much spin the same and it is just a matter of personal preference.
