Here is our popular clear pint mason jar dispenser with a Best Performance lid. This lid will last longer than our other option because it has a plastic coated underside. It also seals tightly because it has a built-in rubber gasket. In 1942, Ball began offering this type of two-piece lid for home canning.

This pint jar is like a road map of Ball history. It has gripper ribs (added in the 1930's), cups and ounces down one side (added in the 1950's), the fruit medallion (early 1960's), and metric measurements (in 1974, Ball became the first canning jar maker in the world to include metric).
Isn’t it amazing how much a little Ball jar has to say?

More about the lid:
The built-in rubber gasket seals tightly against the glass and the plastic coated underside resists corrosion (but not forever because we have to drill a hole for the pump and disrupt the plastic coating). Some people have reported corrosion between the outer ring and the disc on top--the joint between the two. It's just hard to predict how the metal will react to your soap. My best advice is to unscrew it and wipe the top once in awhile.

We started making soap dispensers when our Ball jar collection began to grow. I have always used pumps at my kitchen sink and thought it would be great if Ball would make dispensers with a zinc lid to give it an authentic look. But they don't, so my husband came up with a way to do it and we love them.
