I would like to present the most impressing part of large Uzbek handmade embroideries - Suzani to you. This name of exquisite silk embroideries comes from Persian "sozan" which means "a needle". Uzbek Silk Handmade Suzanis give us an opportunity to have an insight into the old culture and traditions of this land. Such works of Art were prepared and used for ceremonial functions like wedding doweries, fittings for horsemen and their horses, and the general embellishment of reception rooms. As soon as a daughter was born in a family, the mother would start to make suzanis for her dowry, and later her daughter would join her in this fine art too. The patterns of suzanis are an expression of women's mood and fantasies. Suzanis are the last exponents of an age-old tradition which draw our attention by their mysteriousness and beauty.

The approximate age of the item is the first part of the 20th century. The foundation of silk embroidery is cotton fabric. Size 94 x 60 inches. Condition is saved good has some smell.

Great skill and talent of Uzbek needle workers found its expression in this work. The item is not lined.
