A handmade garland of 9 feet of vintage world map paper disks. Each die-cut map circle is actually two map disks put together to sandwich the cord between them.

This project was inspired by maps in a French 1930s pocket book for travelers, the societe parisienne d'edition of the Encyclopedie Geographique de poche. The book of maps -- of continents and regions of France -- is in my personal collection and the reproduction images for this banner are printed on cardstock.

In all, 18 double-sided disks -- each 1.5 inches in diameter -- are spaced evenly along the garland. (That's 36 circles in total.)

Use it as part of your holiday decor, even everyday office decor. Garlands are great for fireplace mantles or to wrap around trees -- also great for making moods merry wherever and whenever you drape them.
