These Eternity Lotus beads in carved bone come as an earring pair and I've got to ask, have you ever seen anything more beautiful?

While I provided a rough sketch with one of my Bali lotus photos thrown in for inspiration, the lion's share of any accolades for breathing life into these little works of art should go to the master carver who created them, my friend Made.

I think he's excelled himself with these perfect pieces, carved in deep relief at the front and less so at the back, as seen in the fourth photo.

And while I normally do all my own product photography, in this instance, credit goes to another Balinese friend, "Elem", a professional photographer .

Please note that these are stock photos and as these are hand-carved, there may be slight variations between the piece you are purchasng and the photos.

Please also note that these are not full-on 3D carvings. They sit quite flat, especially at the back.

Size: Approx 28mm (W) x 20mm (L) - approx 1.1 inches x 0.787 inches
Thickness: Approx 4mm - 0.157 inches
Weight: Approx 2 grams per piece
Pieces per pack: 2 (earring pair)
Colour: White or ivory colour, sometimes tending to cream, depending on the bone used to create them. Carved in deep relief on the front and in fine relief on the back.
Material: Cattle bone, carved both sides with a small hole drilled through top petal of each piece
Shipping: These pieces will ship from Bali via Pos Indonesia registered mail with a tracking number, and you will almost certainly have to sign for them on delivery. They will be shipped in a padded post pack to protect them and the cost of the pack is included in the shipping fee.
Extra info: While these beads are on the pricey side, the carver and I have come to an agreement that creating earring pairs is more time consuming and difficult and so I pay him more for a pair than I would for a single piece. I have a matching pendant that is about 37mm (W) x 25mm (L) - 1 3/8 inch(W) x 1 inch (L) that is available in a separate listing. The lotus flower is one of the most significant symbols of the Buddhist and Hindu religions. In Hindu Bali, where Buddhism has also had a big influence, this beautiful bloom can be found in abundance, both in art and in actuality.

Known as “padma” in Sanscrit, the pink flower is considered to be the supreme lotus and as such is reserved for the highest deities, including the Great Buddha himself, who is often depicted sitting on a lotus.

In Buddhism, the lotus is an icon of purity and the pattern of its growth is said to signify “the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the bright sunshine of enlightenment.”

For Hindus, the lotus flower is a symbol of eternity, plenty and good fortune.

“You Yourself are the water, You Yourself are the fish, and You Yourself are the net. You Yourself cast the net, and You Yourself are the bait. You Yourself are the lotus, unaffected and still brightly-colored in hundreds of feet of water. You Yourself liberate those who think of You for even an instant.” ~ Sri Guru Granth Sahib
